On the way to work, I noticed that one of 8 rectangles cut into the sidewalk held water, while the other 7 did not. This led to a long-term investigation of the 8 rectangles.

Image by D	Rectangles Replanted a new tree in rectangle #1 because the first one leaned over at a steep angle and blocked the sidewalk. A number of plants are lifting and pushing through the asphalt near the rectangles.
